Festive season brings families together to share their joy and happiness and set aside any bad feelings towards each other. Sankranthi in Hyderabad ushers in a new year of fun and frolic for the young and more comfort for the women and the elderly. No doubt, here Hyderabad Metro Rail  (HMR) will  soon  ( end of 2014) be able to strengthen family ties further, as city residents can travel from one corner to another corner and celebrate the festival together. Incidentally, Sankranthi is the harvest festival and farmers celebrate this day very joyfully.

On this auspicious day, “Pongal” the traditional dish consisting of rice and lentils is cooked in a clay pot which is decorated with colorful designs. The dish is tasty and mouth watering.  Children and teenagers as well as young adults fly colorful kites . In fact, annual kite flying competitions are held.  Here one can say the soon-to-arrive HMR will enable city residents to travel distances quickly and take part in a competition of their choice. Family members meet up to each other to rejoice together on the occasion. Once   HMR  arrives  on  the  scene  distances  will  not  mar  family relationships.  HMR will promote better interactions on such auspicious occasion and that too without any stress and tension of travelling long distance. Elderly will also be able to travel to meet their near and dear. Women can share their food offerings with other family members and friends.

Sankranthi indeed is a grand festival for closeness and togetherness among families and HMR knows it well.

It was indeed a grand affair  as the Hyderabad Metro Rail Stall was inaugurated by Hon’ble A.P.state minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Mr. M. Maheeder Reddy thus enleashing an era of rapid mass transport system in a city that is plagued by constant traffic jams and congestion. Also, present on the occasion was prinicipal secretary (MA&UB) Mr. B Sam Bob  IAS Mr. N.V.S Reddy, Managing Director, HMR and other senior officials of HMR.  The  HMR stall has been set up at the All India Industrial Exhibtion Ground, Nampally.

The elegant coach of the metro rail was on display, which looked splendid and one could immediately feel the comfortable travel that would be possible the moment HMR arrives on the scene. The occasion was somber and extremely auspicious, as it is, but natural,  that  the  city  residents’s thirst for quick travel will be quenched soon.

After the traditional ribbon cutting was done by the Hon’ble minister, the delegates visited to have a look at the interior of the coach. The minister along with Mr. N. V. S. Reddy waived to esteemed gathering from inside the coach and one could visualize how HMR would be welcomed  by all and sundry.

The  New  Year  awakens to the reality that we are constantly striving for the best technological innovations that make our life-styles simply superb. The youth today is  bubbling full of energy to contribute  fruitfully in this hi-fi  world of software industry, as well as, other business set-ups which are now   adjusting  to  the   newer technological software applications. Not only has the business industry per se   been    bitten   by   the technological bug innovation, but also the transport sector is equally adapting to the changing times.

Hyderabad  Metro   Rail  that  would be making its debut by end of  2014, will definitely be a technological wonder in a city that has been more tradition bound till now. Urbanization is catching on  fast  in  the  city  and  the  youth  equally has high expectations  of  leading a life that is venturesome and challenging.  They want to move fast, earn well and relax. The  younger  lot, particularly, professionals working with multi-nationals are in hurry to reach their places of work and their daily commute  is  always  beating  the clock. So   HMR  will  certainly  enable  them to live up to the brim, with every moment being joyful  and  memorable. Along with them women, children  and  the elderly also would be   much  pleased  to avail the services of HMR.

Every year brings in its own freshness and the residents of Hyderabad have expectations of leading a better life than the year before. The previous year lapses into oblivion, whether to be remembered or not,   hoping   that  the  New Year would be different  by fulfilling all desires and hopes. The city residents are tired of innumerable traffic jams, and since more settlers are settling down, there would naturally be more   vehicles   on   the road.   Pollution  levels  are  going up  and affecting one’s health. HMR has been devised with the hope of a better life for the city residents.

L&T   engineers   are   burning   the   midnight oil to ensure that HMR serves the transport needs of the city residents.  Timely   work  is  on  and  recently,  the Uppal  section of the metro- rail was inaugurated by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy. The entire distance consists of 72 KM  Metro Rail pillars.  The  Uppal  girder weighs about 300 tons, thus projecting the magnitude of the work on hand. The best talent from abroad as well as locally is being used to ensure that it is a safe and reliable venture. One can simply say “hats to HMR authorities”, by seeing the progress on with the HMR project.

So let the New Year be joyful   year with the hope that the following year will be a year of HMR, with much headway being made in its construction, for it to be a “dream come true”.
