Hope of mitigating environmental problems

These days, we all deplore the current facts about the environment. That’s good news, because there were times when people didn’t even know the spellings of global warming and green house gases or carbon credits and footprint. We are developing, moving towards westernization and our souls are occupied with all the technological frenzy 24/7. So yeah, where time to think about what is is going wrong with our environment, what is there in it that can be fixed and of course, who’s having enough time to spare for such ‘social service’. Needless to mention, we all know that it is NOT social service. It is just as selfish as cleaning and maintaining our own homes. As mentioned earlier, we don’t even care to give it a thought, if we would have, things would have been different. Though when we come across these issues some or the other way, say, while reading articles in newspapers or watching TV, reality dawns upon us and there we are ready, by all means, to mourn and complain.

In such conditions, we should be happy that the Government has been cognizant of all the environmental and commuting issues at Hyderabad and that it has decided to start the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project.  It has been kind enough to think of a solution to the daily shambles on the roads of Hyderabad, leading to noise pollution. It has been thoughtful enough to bring life to dream of having decongested traffic on the roads. Environment Protection is luckily one of the key mottos of HMR Project. The inception of Metro Rail would eventually reduce vehicles on the roads which means there will be a reduction in the amount of polluted gases being released into the air. On top of it, HMR strives to be eco-friendly as it is going to run on electricity. Plans about effective and intelligent translocation of trees have also started coming out. Besides such munificent efforts, it is also showing philanthropic gestures by planting over 10,000 saplings and by thinking to develop a green belt all along the border of station locations. Plans of creating flower beds all around by using the metro rail viaduct have also been carved out. All these efforts are being invested only with the hope of making the City a better and greener place to live.

So, now we have a reason to feel good and we can now grumble less about the environmental issues. All we can and should do now is to support the Project in its mottos and plans and pray for a sooner completion of the project and thereby transformation of Hyderabad into a better city.

HMR-A Saviour

For a large and diverse city like Hyderabad, wherein the total population is over 8 million, transportation facility ought to be efficient and meticulously planned. The City is diversified as people belonging to all sections of society strive here for livelihood. People just cannot avoid the need to move to any part of the city as required. It just becomes evident, how important the transportation facilities and their layout are for people living here. They almost determine the lifestyle of the people through the time they are spending in travelling or commuting and the amount of money they are spending on the daily commuting. That indeed contributes a lot to their lives.

The existing system of mass transportation in the City is not at par with the requirements of the people. Many working men and women have to spend around four hours of the day in travelling leaving almost negligible amount of time for their families. If they think of saving time and opt for a faster transportation service, then it’s going to hurt their pockets. MMTS service is available, but it does not offer frequent train timings and is overloaded with people during peak hours. All the buses, cars, motor bikes running over the City roads result in consolidated and substantial pollution. The traffic that is prevalent in the City causes unavoidable stress and strain to the drivers as well as the travelers.

For mitigating all the listed out problems, the Government has come up with the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project. It is going to be a savior for all the congestion and pollution sufferers of the city. The Metro Rail is going to be helpful for people of the city as the fare is going to be reasonable. The Metro trains are going to be highly frequent, thereby making them quite reliable mode of transport. Its Air Conditioned coaches are going to attract people who want to travel comfortably to their destinations, which in turn, will decrease the number of cars on roads to a large extent. Total number of vehicles will eventually go down and save the city from unnecessary pollution. The Metro tracks are going to cover most of the city, specially three main corridors of the traffic congested road network. The Project also includes the ‘merry go round’ bus services that will carry the commuters to and fro between their homes and nearby HMR stations. Considering all these advantages, it can be clearly understood that HMR is going to help the people in the city to improve the quality of their lives.
